Affect in mathematical thinking and learning

چکیده

Mathematics of all sciences is often regarded as the one most purely based on reason. Yet, it evokes intensive emotions in many people; they either love it or hate it. There is no doubt that affect is closely intertwined with mathematical thinking and learning. The question is: “How?” What are the concepts we need to describe these relationships? What kinds of mechanisms bind affect with mathematical thinking and learning?
